Olympic Handball Ireland (OHI) is deeply saddened by the passing of Morten Stig Christensen, President of the Danish Handball Association. Morten passed away on Friday, November 1st, following a cardiac arrest. He was 65.
OHI Director Fintan J. Lyons shared:
"Morten was a wonderful role model and he will be sorely missed within our great family of nations in the EHF. He will be remembered for his enthusiastic advice, support, and encouragement—always willing to help. His leadership and belief in the smaller nations put grassroots development on the international agenda, leaving a lasting legacy. Our hearts go out to his family and the handball community in Denmark at this difficult time; you are in our thoughts."
Morten’s impact on handball extended far beyond Denmark. His kindness and dedication touched many in the Irish handball community. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and the Danish handball community.
