Olympic Handball Ireland (OHI) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Monday, 28 July 2025, at Irish Sports HQ and online. These meetings marked pivotal moments in shaping the future governance and strategic direction of the organisation.

Key Highlights from the AGM:

  • Annual Report Presentation: OHI Secretary Michael Moloney introduced the 2025 Annual Report, highlighting key achievements including increased school participation, the launch of a new intervarsity competition, continued success of the Celtic Cup, and Irish teams representing abroad. He also presented an anti-doping report included in the report.

  • Collaborative Projects: Updates were provided on projects like the Trinity Comprehensive Hall development and a research collaboration with UCD on handball-related injuries, which will be featured at the upcoming EHF Scientific Conference in Croatia.

  • Board Appointments & Re-elections: Members ratified three Board appointees unanimously. Michael Moloney and Andrea Ongaro were also re-elected to the Board for their final terms.

  • Auditor Appointment: The membership approved a mandate for the Board to appoint auditors and determine remuneration.

  • Membership Fees: It was confirmed that fees for the 2025/2026 season will remain unchanged.

  • Community Recognition: Awards were presented to Monika Vigh and Tomas Martinonis for their outstanding contributions to handball in Ireland.

Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM):

An EGM preceded the AGM to adopt a special resolution allowing the Board to update the OHI constitution. The resolution passed unanimously following a presentation by external consultant Rea Walshe on the compliance updates required under Irish company law.
